Common Enemy / Eyes of Hate - Circle Pit Split 7"- 2005 - Scene Destroyer Records

Sometimes it drives me crazy when things sound wrong on both speeds. Common Enemy are fast as fuck, with a high pitched guitar sound and a high pitched voacl style. The songs are about "circle pits" - "Baby, I don't wanna make out, I just want to circle pit." Damn that is good. This is catchy, fucking hilarious, tight fast and frantic hardcore-punk. The other songs are about stupid drunks that can't play (in their band), and about uniting the emo kids to mosh. Ya kinda gotta lot. Eyes of Hate sound like they'd be scary hard and tough, and while they may be, their lyrics are good and smart about getting caught in traps of both relationships and jobs, and about shitty punks who steal, and of course, they have a circle pit song. They play a cool hardcore-punk style that is catchy and much more punk and bouncy that you'd think by their name. This is a fucking rad split. (Chris)

Common Enemy / Eyes of Hate - Circle Pit Split 7"- 2005 - Scene Destroyer Records

This album is the definition of what hardcore punk is, was, and will always be. Ever since Patrick joined Common Enemy the band took a severe turn for the better. The newer sound, (now being what...two years in that group?) can only be compared to DRI smashing the Circle Jerks in the face with a skateboard and comparing screams. The Eyes of Hate side, yet heart wrenching to listen to at times, is the sound we always knew Al wanted. Fast songs, short songs, total HARDCORE. Even a cover of Cesspool Treatments "Rat Race" is on there closing the album. This album was well worth the wait it took to come out, and will always remind friends and fans of Al and everything he did for all of us. (Jay Drunk)
